Ghana - The Super Eagles of Nigeria led by Nwankwo Kanu, will today attempt to redeem her fading glory as they meet with the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire, in what soccer pundits have termed the “glamour match” of the 26th Africa Cup of Nations that already kicked off in Ghana.
The Eagles were unlucky in their last match with the Ivorians, as they lost 0-1 during that encounter. So a lot is at stake today when the two face off with each other. Nigeria has won the Nations Cup two times, at home in Nigeria in 1980 and in Tunisia, 1994. Cote d’Ivoire has won it once, in Senegal 1992.

This must be the joke of the century! Nigeria is full of surprises everyday. How else can one explain the conversion of a World Boxing Champion from a Sports’ trainer to a regular police officer? Not that there is anything wrong with the practice, but why would the IG of Police - Mike Okoli - think that someone who is now a world champion will be able to combine that with being a regular policeman.
