US firm, Wilbros pays USD$32 million fine for bribing Nigerian officials to secure contract

USA- Willbros, a US-owned oil and gas industry services firm based in Panama and with offices in Houston, TX, has agreed to pay over $32 million in fines and forfeitures to settle allegations of bribery, according to documents made available by the United States Justice Department.

An unknown group of gunmen on Tuesday night, seized a vessel reported to be affiliated to Chevron Oil, and kidnapped its 11 passengers, nine of whom are Nigerians, a Portuguese and an Ukranian. The gunmen are demanding a ransom of N30 million for the release of the hostages.
