What Software Testing is and is not?

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Generally, Software Testing is the verification and validation of Softwares that we use on a daily basis from a set of rules called Requirements from the End Users point of view. This ranges from software games to Microsoft Office e.t.c. It can also be either a front-end testing - which is the testing of interfaces such as web applications on various platforms - or a back-end testing - which is the testing of databases with the goal of generating data for analytical purposes in a report form with the use of tool such as Business Objects or Crystal Clear.

Part of the deliverables for Software Testing are various documentations such as The Test Plan and Test Cases which most companies interchange. But how do we eradicate the misuse of these words especially when you interview with a particular company and you don’t use the general word jargons of that company and they think that you do not know what you are saying?
