London - The Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, Lord Phillips, has said that the United Kingdom may introduce the principles of Sharia law into some aspects of its legal system.

The British Broadcasting Corporation Online reports that Lord Phillips, the most senior judge in England and Wales, said there was no reason Sharia law principles could not be used in mediation. However, he said this would still be subject to the “jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.”

Nigeria - Worried by the high rate of prostitution among students of universities, authorities of higher institutions and religious fellowships across Nigerian campuses have started prayer sessions to fight the scourge.

Lagos - Alhaji Wahab Iyanda Folawiyo, business mogul, philanthropist and the Baba Adinni of Nigeria, died in the early hours of today, family sources told the News Agency of Nigeria.

Folawiyo whose death came 10 days to his 80th birthday., was one of the icons of Nigerian industry and a pillar of Islam.

15 Nigerian Universities blacklisted

Abuja - The National Universities Commission (NUC) has announced the blacklisting of five additional “fake” universities bringing to a total of 15 of such this year alone, so far closed and operating illegally, in the Nigeria.

The blacklisted schools are Blacksmith University, Awka, St Paul University College, Awka, both in Anambra State; and, Rev. D.O. Ockiya College of Theology and Management Sciences, Ogbia, Bayelsa State.
