Canada refuses visas to Nigerian Supreme Court Justices

New York - The Canadian high Commission in Nigeria has refused visa to service Supreme Court Justices of Nigeria, in addition to also foot-dragging or outrightly refusing visas to several Senate Judiciary delegations from Nigeria to Canada.

The Deputy Senate President,  Ike Ekweremadu, made this known in New York, as the head of the Nigerian delegation to Canada for bilateral talks with the leadership of  the Canadian  parliament.

Ekweremadu however said this disgraceful diplomatic act has been brought to the attention of Candian lawmakers and government officials, who have all promised to wade into the matter.  “We complained to Canadian lawmakers, diplomats and senior government officials on the treatment meted to Nigerians seeking visas to Canada for legitimate affairs,  and they have promised to resolve the matter,” Ekweremadu  said.

According to the Deputy Senate president, he has urged the Canadian authorities to urgently  look into the  matter, so as not to jeopardise the existing  cordial relations between the two countries.

In recent times ordinary Nigerian citizens have been complaining that they were “outrightly” denied entry visas after Canada’s  High Commission in Lagos, allegedly collected “a  non-refundable administrative fee of N8,400,” from them.
