Kola Karim, Nigerian, makes top young global leaders for 2008

The World Economic Forum(WEF) has named a Nigerian, Kola Karim, CEO,  Shoreline Energy International,  among the 245 top young global leaders for 2008.

The honour is in recognition of  top  300 young leaders from around the world for their professional accomplishments, commitment to society and potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world.

Mr. Karim’s first job was at the Guardian Royal Exchange, UK, which he joined in 1988 as a trainee manager, shortly after graduating from City University, London and later senior management member at the prestigious H.K Beaumont and Associates. Shortly after,  Karim left the company to start Koda Trading Limited, a heavy machinery import and export company.  In last year’s edition, Wale Tinubu,  Group Chief Executive Officer,  Oando Plc, made the list of 250 leaders.

The Young Global Leaders 2008 include 121 business  leaders, as well as leaders from government, academia, the media and society at large from 65 countries.  The new class represents all regions, including East Asia (64), Europe (58), Middle East and North Africa (12), North America (45), South Asia (24), sub-Saharan Africa (21) and Latin America (21).

“The World Economic Forum is a true multi-stakeholder community of global decision-makers. We need the Young Global Leaders to be a voice for the future in the  global thought process, and as a catalyst for  initiatives in the global public interest,” said Klaus  Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of WEF.

    Wow, in our era of distorted value system, having a Nigerian in the person of Kola Karim recognised by the W.E.F shows that we the young Nigeria enterprenuers and technocrats are the future of our great nation and through our exploits will our beloved country get to the promised land we are the promised generation set to deliver, Thumbs up for Mr Kola Karim and others like him.
