U.S, Canada collaborate to deport 105 Nigerians

Lagos - The United States yesterday deported 95 Nigerians in addition to the 10 deported from Canada, to make a total of 105, after the deportees had lost appeals against their deportation.

The deportees comprising of 93 males and 12 females touched down at 4.30 p.m. at the cargo terminal of the Muritala Mohammed Airport (MMA), went through documentation, and then emerged at 5.30pm. Nineteen of them were deported for drug related offenses, and were handed over to the National Drug & Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), while others had immigration cases of overstaying or for fake documentation.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that diplomatic officials from the Canadian embassy were also on ground to witness their arrival.

I didn’t know I will find myself here” one of the deportees told NAN as he looked for a means of getting to home to his family. NAN reports  that a massive crowd surged to catch glimpses of the deportees who sweated profusely. One of the deportees caused a stir as he refused to come down from the bus that conveyed them out of  the tarmac.” I’m going no where,” he yelled.
