Is Ibori really ill or on his way out to freedom?

Ex-Governor of Delta State, Chief James IboriAbuja - The immediate past governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, who was remanded in the Kaduna prisons following his recent arraignment for corruption by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been flown to Abuja to be “admitted” at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Indications however show that Chief Ibori’s admission, may be part of a plot to fly him out of the country on the premise that he needs urgent medical checkup abroad. If this move succeeds, this may be the final straw towards his freedom from EFCC’s cell, and a victory for the outgoing EFCC chairman - Mallam Ribadu’s enemies.

It is so insane to see how the powerful and corrupt people in our dear country plans and execute with no shame, playing on people’s intelligence, to get their way. How else will one explain the “coincidence” and timing of Chief Ibori’s illness, barely a week or two after Ribadu’s removal from the EFCC?

Enough of these insults on the Nigerian populace! Nigerians are some of the most educated and intelligent people in the world, although sometimes a few have used such intelligence inappropriately.

Chief Ibori is expected to appear at the Federal High Court today (Jan 10, 2008) to answer in the 129-count charge proffered against him by the EFCC.
His lawyers are expected to re-argue for his bail.
