EFCC declares Lucky Igbinedon wanted over N2.9bn loot

Lucky Igbinedion, Ex-Governor of Edo StateAbuja - The former Executive Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, who was in charge of the state from 1999 - 2007, has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The former governor is wanted in connection with a 142-count charge which includes among other things, allegedly stealing N2.9bn from Edo State in addition to gross abuse of office. The huge sum, according to the EFCC, was looted and transferred through numerous companies such as Gava Corporation Ltd, owned by his father, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, Kiva Corporation Limited, and Ekpen and Sons.

Igbinedion, currently in self exile in Morocco, joins seven other ex-governors currently being prosecuted for corruption related charges by the EFCC. This may very well be the last move by outgoing commission Chairman, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
