Christmas…Its a love thing
John 3:16-17 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that, the world through Him might be saved.
Christmas is the time when we celebrate the Lord Jesus’ birthday. However, it is much more than that - Christmas is really a time to celebrate and appreciate God’s great love for all of us! God sent the Lord Jesus Christ to the earth because He loved us so much. Jesus proved God’s great love by laying down His life for us. He died so that we may not die but have eternal life.
But what exactly is this ETERNAL LIFE that Jesus offers to us? John 17: 3 reveals the answer: And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent [Amplified].
Here we see that the eternal life that Jesus came to give us is much more than a ticket to heaven. Eternal life is knowing and loving God intimately!
So Christmas is not just about the love God has for you. Christmas is also about the love that you can and should have for God. This Christmas, choose to devote your heart to loving the Lord more than you ever have before because, Christmas is all about love: God’s love for you and your love for God!
