Naijawire (Washington) - President Musa Yar’Adua currently on his first presidential visit to the USA, said he will cherish and never forget ever meeting US President, George W. Bush, in his life.
President Yar’Adua made the comment during a joint Press conference he and President Bush had with the members of the Press, yesterday at the White House.
While there is nothing significantly wrong with expressing joy and sentiments with meeting the “leader of the free world”, it is somehow degrading for our own President to publicly express such emotions especially in an official capacity as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Such demeanor is unbecoming of a world leader. No one doubts that the US is a superior power to Nigeria (??), but a comment such as that from one president to another, degrades the sovereignty of Nigeria.
Mr. President, please learn the act of public speaking and put the dignity of your office back in line!
