When will these so called “419 victims” learn their lessons? After several press reports and news about 419 scams, some people still fall for the trap. I am just perplexed about how gullible and greedy some of them are. Why on earth will you be sending money to someone you never met, not to talk of knowing?

While this Punch Newspaper report may sound a little different from the regular 419 scam, one still wonders who the real victim here is. The story goes thus…

Security operatives on Wednesday arrested a 27-year-old Nigerian man after a coordinated investigation in conjunction with Queensland Police in Australia, charging the man with fraud-related offences. Queensland police said a 56-year-old Gold Coast businesswoman began an online relationship in July with the Nigerian who gave his name as Benson Lawson. She believed he was a British engineer who travelled the world, but in reality she was communicating with a calculated conman who swindled her of a large sum of money.  (Read the rest of the story from the Punch Newspaper: http://www.punchontheweb.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20071115158376)

Maybe those of you that have at one time or the other, engaged in online relationships can speak on this one….
